3-Phase Power Solutions Digital-Phase Converters
Digital-phase converters are electronic and non-mechanical. They purport to have pure sine wave output voltage but are sensitive to and cannot protect equipment from surges, blackouts and other power problems. The software in the digital-phase converters are supposed to monitor and adjust voltage to produce a balanced, 3-phase output at all times. The software also provides a protective function by shutting down in case of a surge or loss of voltage. With this ability to maintain perfect voltage balance, it can safely and efficiently operate any type of 3-phase equipment even with multiple loads. Because of the new technology, they do have some draw-backs. Because of the sensitive nature of their electronics and the complexity of them, they have a shorter life span and are much more expensive to repair with limited locations for repair stations. They are also limited to the amount of power they can put out. If you need to supply a lot of 3-phase power, digital-phase converters may not be your best choice. |
