3-Phase Power Solutions Hammond Transformers
Hammond Manufacturing was started by Oliver Hammond in 1917 to build various tools for the foundry industry. Oliver Hammond was fascinated with the new technology of radio broadcasting, and, as a result, they began building radios in 1919. Oliver passed away in 1925, and his four eldest sons took over the business. They decided to stop making radios and focus, instead, on one of the components that went into radio transformers. They built and designed a line of transformers for broadcast transmitters and AC radio sets. With the start of World War II, Hammond Manufacturing started building transformers and reactors for military communication equipment. Overnight, the company grew from under 50 employees to over 300 to supply the demands of transformers. With the industry boom in 1950, Hammond started to build a standard line of electronic and electrical enclosures. Both the transformer and enclosure businesses continued to grow. Two new transformer plants were built, and two transformer companies were acquired in Wisconsin and California. In 2000, Hammond decided to split Hammond Manufacturing into two separate companies, and this is when Hammond Power Solutions Inc. was born. |
