Winco Generators

Winco GeneratorWinco is celebrating its 80th anniversary, and over the years has developed a large product line. Winco has been setting the standard of excellence for building quality, dependable generators.  They manufacture the broadest line of generators in the industry, and they do it well.

In 1927,  John and Gerhard Albers began developing a battery system that could store power generated from the wind. Winco is truly a great American success story starting in Cherokee, Iowa where the “Wincharger” powered the Alber’s family farm. Word of mouth and ingenuity prevailed, and all of their rural, powerless neighbors wanted one, and Winco Generators was created. In 1935, they outgrew Cherokee and moved to Sioux City, Iowa.

Since that time, Winco has always been a leader in developing generator products.  In 1952, commercial and industrial portable engine-driven generators were produced. Then in 1955, an industry standard for portable generators was set by Winco.  They had introduced the first automatic idle control for portable generators. The key benefits were to extend engine life, fuel conservation and reduce engine noise. The Maxi-Watt and Full-Power Generator Designs were introduced in 1964.

In the 1990, a new line of consumer-oriented portables called the Dyna Series was born along with a full line of Honda powered portable generators geared towards the construction markets. New innovative light towers were introduced, and a new mobile diesel line of generators were designed for quiet operation and remote start applications. A full line of Package Standby Systems were introduced from a range of 8,000 watts to 65,00 watts.

Most of Winco’s generators are larger and used for back-up power.  Winco is the leader in technology, and they set the standard for building quality, dependable generators. When you go with a Winco manufacturer, you know you will be getting a well built, quiet generator backed up with a one-year or more warranty.  Check out the Winco Generators available on sale on the web.
